“We Will Rock You” is a song produced by Queen in 1977. It has a very simple beat to it. It is just two stamps and a clap repeated with vocals over it, and has a guitar solo at the end. The song was a great success. There wasn’t any special sound effects added or anything.
Sampling Ethics
I don’t think that it is morally acceptable to sample other people’s music without permission. Sampling other people’s music is taking their creation and using it as if it is theirs. It is like a form of steeling.
Sample genealogy
An example of song sampling is in “Don’t threaten me with a good time” by Panic at the disco. It has a guitar rift at the beginning that goes through most of the song which was sampled from B-52s Rock Lobster.
Quotation/interpolation
There is a example in this with “Dream on” by Aerosmith and “Sing for the moment” by Eminem. There is a quote from Dream on straight into song for the moment.
MIDI Song
I started by making a drum beat and then I added a bass and a Guitar. I did it on Garage Band. I feel that It turned out alright and is satisfying. If I had unlimited time then I would spend more time practicing with the MIDI instruments and i would try to add more to it.
Loop Song Process
While creating this loop song I approached it by starting with a percussion to go through most of the song and then i added a kick to it and then i started adding different synths to it. I do think that it is a form of musical creativity because you have to know what would be good to put in a certain area and be able to tell if it sounds good there or it is too much or needs some adjusting. At the same time I think that it is not because you are just taking sounds made by other people to put in your order.
Favorite and Least Favorite Song
One song that I like is “Enter Sandmen” by Metallica. I like it because of the of the long intro and the rhythm of the song through out.
For what I don’t like are most songs that come out on the radio now because they all sound the same to me and seem to always revolve around the same topic.
